The shamrock is made up of three hearts and a stem sewed together.
Green Hearts (make 3)
Make a magic ring
Rnd 1: 3ch, 3tc, 3dc, ch, tc, ch, 3dc, 3tc, 3ch, slst
Rnd 2: 3ch, (sc, hdc between chain and 3tc of rnd 1), 2hdc in each of next 3 stitches, hdc in the next 4 stiches, ch, dc, ch, hdc in the next 4 stiches, 2hdc in each of next 3 stitches, (sc, hdc between chain and 3tc of rnd 1), 3ch, slst.
* Leave a long tail at the third heart for sewing.
* Make a 4th for a Four Leaf Clover
Stem
16 ch
Rnd 1: hdc in the second chain from hook. hdc in next 9 stitches. sc in next 5 chains. slst.
Putting it together
Sew the sides of the heart to form a three leaf clover. Turn over the clover and sew the 5 sc of the stem on the clover so that only the 10 hdc is exposed. Knot off. Tuck in and trim loose yarn. Turn over.
