In a large mixing bowl, mix warm water, 1 cup of flour, sugar, and active dry yeast. Cover with a towel. Let stand for 10 minutes.
Add flour, oil, and salt. Knead for five minutes until fully formed.
Place the balled dough in a greased bowl. Spray oil on the dough and cover with saran wrap. Let rise for one hour.
Preheat oven 400° F.
On a floured surface, shape two logs and slice slits on top. Place on parchment lined baking sheet. Slice slits on top. Let rise for 20 minutes.
Bake for 20 minutes. Brush vegan butter.
