Italian Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • cups flour
  • tsp active dry yeast

Instructions

Traditional

  • In a large mixing bowl, mix warm water, 1 cup of flour, sugar, and active dry yeast. Cover with a towel. Let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Add flour, oil, and salt. Knead for five minutes until fully formed.
  • Place the balled dough in a greased bowl. Spray oil on the dough and cover with saran wrap. Let rise for one hour.
  • Preheat oven 400° F.
  • On a floured surface, shape two logs and slice slits on top. Place on parchment lined baking sheet. Slice slits on top. Let rise for 20 minutes.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Brush vegan butter.
  • Enjoy

Bread Maker

  • Place ingredients in bread maker in order of the list above or directed by your bread maker. Set on dough setting at 1 lb. Wait until the dough is done, about an hour.
  • Preheat oven 400° F.
  • On a floured surface, shape two logs and slice slits on top. Place on parchment lined baking sheet. Slice slits on top. Let rise for 20 minutes.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Brush vegan butter.
  • Enjoy

Olive Oil Dip
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • crushed black pepper
  • vegan Parmesan cheese
